Shavuot was 50 days from when Yahweh showed himself to be the true God of the nation of Israel. He reminded his people who He was. He gave them instruction and tests, He performed miracles as proof of his authority, and He fulfilled each promise He made to them.
He took them from their false gods and pagan influences so that he could spend time with his bride face to face.
By Shavuot, the people had every chance to decide if they were going to follow Yah as their God or not.
Yah proposed to his bride Israel. He bought them with a ransom of the blood, He mikvahd/baptized them (making them clean) through the red sea, He asked them if they would be His. He presented what he would be as their groom; providing and protecting his bride. Then He gave them the Torah, telling them what he expected from them as a faithful bride. The Torah is our wedding vows.... promises from one to another. A contract.
Shavuout is the anniversary of Yah and his people exchanging vows. In traditional weddings, the contract was written and agreed upon, then the groom would leave to prepare the home for his bride... later, he would return to get her, bring her home, and cross the threshold to a new life.
Shavuot is also the celebration of the wheat harvest. Barley is associated during Passover. Barley is an animal grain and the lowest form of grain. It was an entry-level food just for basic nourishment. Wheat is refined and considered quality food. It doesn't just get you by, but nourishes fully. It is the foundation of bread... man can not live by bread alone, but by the power of Yah. Later, we celebrate sukkot, which corresponds to the fruit harvest. Fruit is the ultimate superfood... as was in the original garden.... the tree of life.
